Continuing along Route 1 the lush green hills gave way to our first glimpse of a glacier. We stopped along the side to view the peaks and tongues of ice known as Skaftafelljokull. Jokull in Icelandic means “glacier”. Skatftafell is now part of a national park that visitors come to enjoy day hikes or longer. […]
